Audiolens

I led design for Audiolens, a powerful audio analysis and referencing tool inspired by one simple truth: People don’t own mp3s anymore. In a world of streaming and access over ownership, Audiolens enables users to stream and capture reference data from their favorite songs for use in iZotopes game-changing software.

Listening to our users

The concept originated from key findings and themes gathered during user research. Despite many iterations, the core value offering was clear from the start: Extract usable reference data from streamed audio.

One production assistant

I utilized iZotope’s AI assistant visual assets to highlight when Audiolens is importing existing targets or listening to desktop audio Using Rogue Amoeba’s ACE framework.

Technical hurdles

Installing ACE on Apple M1 machines requires users to reboot in safe mode. Since their computers wouldn’t be able to use the internet during this time, I designed the installation instructions with a QR code to push users towards opening the instructions on a mobile device.

Taking cues from iZotope’s trusted tools

I leaned on iZotope’s UI design system to ensure references appear in Audiolens exactly how they do in Neutron and Ozone for a seamless experience from desktop to plugin.
