Neutron

Neutron 4 is iZotope’s comprehensive modern mixing toolkit. Together with a small team of designers, we set out to redefine how assistive technology surfaced in our products and give users broader control over their audio without sacrificing the detail and granular insights that make iZotope popular with the pros.

A fresh look for Master Assistant

In Neutron 4, I helped take Master Assistant from a simple form to a full blown control panel with powerful processing packed into clean macros.

Two views, one sound.

My main area of focus was the “Assistant View”, which collects high level input on a users creative intent and directly translates it to complex parameters that can be adjusted from the contrasting “Detailed View”

More than a preset

During our research we discovered users were getting a ton of value by referencing other songs or genres. The team came up with targets as a core part of the UX for a user to tell Neutron what they want to sound like, and help guide the processing it applies towards that goal

Assistance across the board

In addition to expanding how users interact with the mix assistant, I optimized its helpful reach by designing and implementing a 6-part tutorial. By using web-hosted content, the experience can be updated dynamically without the need to re-release Neutron.
